The Geist of Christmas
Frohe Weihnachten, dear readers!
Being German, I’ve already got my presents. The evening of Christmas Eve is the traditional time to give and receive gifts in Germany. So I spent last night with family and friends east of Berlin doing just that. Today is reserved for eating, drinking and being merry. I hope you have similar plans and won’t trouble you for long.
Because it’s Christmas, I would, however, like to take a moment to thank you for reading my ZEITGEIST blog. What began two and a half years ago as a small outlet for me to share some thoughts and reflections has become a sizeable community of people interested in German history. Amazingly, ZEITGEIST is now among the top 30 bestselling history substacks. I’m thoroughly humbled by your support and engagement.
So, on that fuzzy-warm note, please accept my heartfelt gratitude and my very best wishes for a lovely, restful Christmas.
With festive greetings from Germany,
Katja
