I think you are absolutely spot on Katja. In our increasingly unstable world it’s crucial that the UK and Germany are on the closest possible friendly terms. Particularly as the US lurches ever closer to a police state, Mielke would be proud. Brexit was a catastrophe and any steps to mitigate the impact should be embraced. Now Katja do you know if the friendship treaty will include a drive for more English language translations of German books…. well two I’m keen to read.😉 Good article Katja.
He is saying the right things if your aim is a strong Europe but we'll see. Whether the UK is in a position - or inclined - to meet Germany half way is also an open question. From the outside, it sure seems turbulent over there at the moment and that is going to be a distraction to the urgent needs to address the UKs current defence situation.
I see the friendship treaty was signed at the Victoria and Albert museum, which was pretty cool,is don't know why the mention of frequent flyers and e gates made me think you Katja 🤔
London - Berlin trains ? I wish , trouble with that is our rail service is a joke and I’m led to believe that the German public aren’t best pleased with the DB ,
Thanks for the nice rundown of the Starmer/Merz relationship, which seems quite hopeful. This must be a relief after Scholz. However, the London to Berlin trains must not be run by Deutsche Bahn :)

Pressing thumbs for a productive meeting - great summary of the challenges and opportunities as always.
